So, when Lydia rolled over last week, I assumed it was a total fluke.
But, Tonight she rolled over twice during tummy time! My baby girl is growing up!
Last week we went to Pensacola FL for the weekend. Lydia survived the 5 hour car trip (it ended up being 6.5 hours with stops) The poor thing though. Her carseat (Graco deco pattern) is adorable, but is made out of a microfiber/suedey feeling fabric and the poor baby was a sweat ball when I’d take her out. She was cranky much of the trip and I think that was the reason. ![]()
When we got to the hotel, I pulled back the covers and put her boppy on the sheet, and set her in it. She just started grinning! Fred said, “I think this is the happiest she’s ever been!” (You’d be happy too if you were cooking in the backseat!)
Tomorrow we are having our family portrait done. I was coming out of Kmart last Friday (They had Nursery Water on sale, so I had to stock up) and they had those hawkers at the door, the ones I normally breeze past, but I have an adorable baby now, so I have an excuse to stop. 1 -10 X 13, 2 - 8X10; 4 – 5X7 6 – “greeting cards” and 36 – wallets for $15! No sitting fee! It is a reputable studio too! He said they’ll take about 15 shots and we can pick the one we like best, all pics will be the same pose, but for $15 what more can you ask?
I’ve been sick all week, Asthma (using my nebulizer every 3 hours or so) and I picked up a lovely stomach bug on Wednesday. ick
Lydia went 9 hours between feedings last night! I fed her at 8:50 and she went to bed close to midnight. She slept through until quarter to 6! I got up fed her, changed her and she went back to sleep until 10! WOW!
We have a flood watch in effect until tomorrow morning. dang. I really wanted to take a walk. well, hopefully the rain will wash away some of the pollen!
And now some gratuitous Lydia shots!
Taken with my cell phone so they’re obviously not the best quality, but they’re so cute!!!
One huge fear I have is that Lydia will have asthma. I have severe asthma. I was diagnosed at 15 months of age, and hospitalized 3 times by the time I started school. I was on medication regularly and had many trips to the emergency room. When I got to high School (I had to be cool) I started smoking. At the age of 18 I was hospitalized my senior year in H.S. The day after Thanksgiving. I was hospitalized again in the spring. This pattern followed for 10 years. At 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 I was hospitalized twice a year, and I had frequent ER visits in between at the very least 3 times a year.
My last hospitalization for my asthma was in July 2003. (I met Fred a week later, and Jesus Christ 2 months later) I have not been hospitalized for my asthma since then. I have had maybe 5 ER visits for my asthma in the almost 6 years since then. I use a nebulizer pretty regularly. I am on Advair, Singulair, Combivent, Duoneb, and Intal and have had more bursts of Prednisone than I care to count. My bedside table looks like I’m a hospice patient. I deal with it though, because it is all I have ever known. I did quit smoking several years ago – but did irreparable damage to my lungs.
I got through pregnancy great! I was always afraid I’d never be able to have kids because of my health.
I have a BEAUTIFUL daughter. I know the anguish I felt when she was under the bililights in the Hospital. I know what I felt when she got her shots yesterday. I’ve feared asthma for her since before she was conceived.
I read today in Parents magazine that babies born by C-section have an 80% greater chance of being diagnosed with asthma by the age of 8 than those born vaginally. AND babies born by C-section to asthmatic parents have an even greater chance! If you are a person of prayer I would appreciate it if you’d add Lydia to your list. Not for my sake, not even for her sake, but that God would be glorified by her overcoming these terrific odds.
I brought my poor baby for her immunizations today. The nurse and an assistant came in. The assistant held her legs and the nurse told me to hold both her arms. I recorded the audio to share with Fred since I had to go alone. It didn’t affect him nearly as much, becasue he’s not Mommy, he didn’t see the terror in her eyes, and feel her grabbing for comfort after they jabbed her and left the room. She certainly cried louder, but I cried longer.
We left with a Bugs Bunny bandaid on each little thigh. I’m crying just typing this and thinking about it..
Oh, she weighed 12 lbs 1 oz, and was 23.5 inches long. Her head circumference was 16 3/4!
Okay, not really… today is my 8 year ‘Xangaversary” EIGHT YEARS! WOW! I’ve been blogginbg here for 8 years.
To celebrate,
I haven’t eaten yet, and Lydia will be waking up in a few minutes.
I just want to thank Xanga for all the good times. I have met one Xanga friend face to face (she’s no longer here, she moved to blogger) She lives in Seattle and was visiting family in Lancaster PA 2 years ago, so we met up.
I met 2 people with an evangelism group that we used to labour with who happen to be on Xanga.
And then of course I have my Blog Friends.
8 years ago if you told me I’d be living in Georgia, married with a beautiful 2 month old daughter, I’d have told you that you were crazy
Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.
Extra Special Thanks to Renee, Liz, Jennie, Kelly, Rachel, Grace, Dianne, Mary, Amanda and Terry for putting up with my insanity and for all your support!
Why does my husband talk to my friends more than he talks to me? I just found out someone is getting divorced, and told Fred, he said, “Yeah I know!” Apparently he was chatting with her on facebook.
When I told her how shocked I was, and then even more surprised that he knew, she told me, “Yeah, he was one of the first people I told.”
I went to elementary school, middle school and high school with this girl. Fred met her ONCE. ONCE two summers ago going into a grocery store. He talks to HER more than he talks to me. GRRRRRR
I haven’t had a haircut since our visit to NJ/NY/ME in May.
We went to Wal Mart (they have a hair place inside) I don’t pay salon prices becasue I wear my hair long, without product, I just desperately needed it cleaned up.
So I went and got 3 inches cut off.
Fred walked off with Lydia so he could get tylenol, wheat bread, and lightbulbs. When he came back to find me, he realized he didn’t have his cell phone. He re-traced his steps and no luck.
We went to the AT&T store to try to get a replacement.
A salesperson walks over and asks if she can help us and asks my last name.
I replied, “Knapp K-N-A-P-P”
She asks, “Can you spell that for me?”
WOW! Either she didn’t listen, or she was a numbskull”
Fred: (jumping up suddenly)
Me: (startled) You jumped up (seeing he went for smarties in the candy jar)
Fred: I was excited
Me: You jumped up like it was a jar of brownies!
Fred: (saying something I didn’t understand)
Me: (Laughing) WHAT?
Fred: You’d be excited
Me: I thought you said “You big Fatty!”
Fred: If the shoe fits, eat it!
I made Lydia bleed tonight while cutting her fingernails. She cried so much, yet I cried more. Any pointers?
