  • So afraid I missed the window of opportunity.  Lydia will be 3 in 3 days.

I planned to begin potty training around 18 months, but then Fred got very sick and I had to wait on him for many weeks.  It got put on the back burner.

I planned to work on it – was even scheduled to go to a “potty training workshop” in April 2011 when we got the call that Fred’s mom was in a coma in NYC.  We rushed up there and were there for 3 weeks.

We had some problems and for unforeseen circumstances Lydia and I were not home for a portion of the summer.

Then the move came.  Got here, was barely settled in – 2 weeks and Fred breaks his arm, and subsequent surgery.  Here we are almost 3 years old and not nearly potty trained.

For a BM she will come running to me and tell me she has to go, we will run to the potty and sit there for 20 minutes with no outcome.  Diaper goes back on and we go back to whatever we were doing.  A little while later we repeat.  After another 20 minutes or so of nothing, diaper goes back on.  Then she runs into her bedroom and goes in her diaper!

This is an almost DAILY occurrence.  Last week we had a successful BM on the potty, but she drank a lot of juice that day, so it was a fluke.

    Is there any hope?

I can’t just “camp out at home” right now because Fred has PT weekly and Drs appointments regularly.  He can’t drive so I have to do all the errands, and he can’t get her on and off the potty and stuff with only one good arm.  Any suggestions?

  • So Fred started Physical Therapy on Thursday.  He will be receiving it twice a week.  He hopes to be back to work on the 16th.  His boss has been AWESOME through this!  He technically only worked at this job 8 days before he fell and broke his arm.

Next Friday Lydia will be THREE!  My parents are coming on Thursday.

My parents got her this but it still too short!

I need to hit a bicycle shop and find pedal extenders.  She sees it and squeals “BICYCLE” and sits on it, but can’t go anywhere.  LOL

It’ll just be family again this year, since we’ve only been here 6 weeks (and 4 of them have been spent in Hospitals/doctors offices) we don’t know anyone yet.

We were going to a church, but the pastor and his family announced that they were leaving and moving to West Virginia.  There is a new pastor coming on January 22nd to take over.

South Florida is a whole different animal.  It was 81 on Christmas.  I don’t know that I’ll ever adjust to it!  Lydia has so many corduroy dresses that she’ll never get to wear.  LOL

Sitting outside Starbucks on Thursday (thanks to a gift card I got from Swagbucks)

  • Fred broke his arm on December 4th, so the past 3 weeks have been a lot of sleeping, and pain and struggle and MD appointments.

December 20th he had surgery to repair the break, he stayed 2 nights in the hospital and came home on Thursday the 22nd.

God has provided that we’ve been fed and everything.  SO Thankful for that!

Lydia got a pink vtech mobigo and case along with 2 games from my parents, and a tricycle too.  (it was out of stock, so it will be here a little later)

My sister (who works for Disney) sent her a giant Minnie Mouse Doll, a Minnie Mouse Nightgown, 2 Minnie t-shirts, and Minnie crayons and coloring book.  (Since our first visit to South FL, Lydia has been obsessed with Minnie Mouse)

She also got a new baby doll and a Sesame Street Book and stuffed Border Collie.

Fred goes back to the MD on Thursday, hopefully we’ll have some good news.  His boss has been INCREDIBLE in this whole situation!

  • so….

We moved to West Palm Beach, FL on November 21. (It is 81 degrees today.  ick)

December 4th, Fred fell and broke his humerus.

He’d only been at his job 2 weeks.  No insurance, no money.  YAY!

He had surgery to repair it on the 20th.

He was in the hospital for 2 nights.

    He got home today.

His new Boss has been SUPER INCREDIBLY UNDERSTANDING.

The nerve was completely trapped inside the fracture so he has a significant amount of pain.

Yet again, Lydia’s potty training has been put on the back burner.  I feel bad that she is almost 3 and not completely potty trained yet.

Christmas here will be super low key.  But that’s all good.  Lydia will get a new baby doll and a mobigo, and THIS hopefully!

Can’t wait for him to recuperate and get back to work!

The church we found when we got here, the pastor announced after our second week there, that he was moving to West Virginia on January 2nd!  They voted another pastor in, but Fred and I both got a very weird vibe from him.

  • Jingit

So, it’s no secret I love earning/winning free stuff.  (who doesn’t) for the past month or so I’ve been using Jingit.  You watch ads and earn money.  Any where from 5 cents to $1.35 I’ve earned!  Once you’ve earned $2 you can request a Jingit Card (a prepaid Visa card, backed by US Bank)  When you receive it and activate it, you can load your earnings on it and spend it anywhere.

You need to sign up through facebook, and you need to have a cell phone to receive 1 text message to confirm your identity.  I’ve used my Jingit card in many places and have not had a probl;em with it at all.  Would you like an invite?  Even if you don’t want to use it, signing up will help me out.  Let me know!

  • Lydisms

When she can’t find her bepper (the cloth diaper she used as a security blanket) “Where’s the Bepper?”
When she finds it “OH!, I found Bepper!”

When she falls or otherwise hurts herself:
“Are you okay?” or “you’re fine, you’re fine.”  (I wonder where she heard those from?)

On many occasions, she will say, “Mama?”  and I will say, “Yeeeeeeeees?”
    Now she says, “Mama? Yeeeeeeeeeeeees?”

When I tell her we are going in the car, she says, “And the car seat?”

She will see a truck, and say, “Car!  That’s not a car, that’s a truck!”

Her vocabulary has come so far!  I am thankful to you @giantsis for encouraging me to contact early intervention!

Right before we moved from Pensacola her Speech Therapist tested her.  “normal” is between 85 and 115.  In one area she scored a 94 and an 85 in the other!  She was unable to test her when she started because he vocabulary was so small!  What an awesome outcome!

  • 79 degrees here today  We are still unpacking.  I fear we will be doing so for a long time to come.

My kitchen is a fraction of the size of the 10X10 one I had in Pensacola.  Limited counter and cabinet space, so I will have to be super creative.  Any tips? Please forgive my mess!

This is the View from my sliding glass door (I keep waiting for Blanche and Rose to come in).  Fred heard an aligator last night.  YIKES!

So the Cat is out of the bag.  We’re moving.  On Saturday.  That is right.  3 days from now I will be cleaning like crazy and hopefully everything will be in the cars/truck.  We will drive 375 miles or so to Ocala and spend the night at my parent’s house.  We have secured our new apartment and I hope it is as nice as it looks.  HUGE NEWS!  I will have a Washer and Dryer!

Taking a breathing treatment and back to packing.
