  • While cleaning, I came across 2 disposable cameras and four rolls of film that I had no Idea what was on them. I dropped them off at Target, and went back to get them. 1 roll wa sfrom the last time I hung out with my friend Amanda and her Husband before they moved back to VA, 2 were from DC, One was from “Rock to the Rescue” (I kept a disposable camera in my pants) and one was from hanging out with Kristin, Meghan, and Elizabeth. There was a red felt “cowgirl” hat involved. Much hilarity ensued.

Sometimes I feel like I have too much “stuff”. I just want to throw it all away and start over again. I have 9 photo albums, 4 boxes of photos, 2 albums of postcards I’ve been collecting since 7th grade, numerous postcards not yet in albums. Cassette tapes out the wazoo, that do me no good. Magazines, Books, ticket stubs, lets face it, I’m a fire hazzard waiting to happen.

I’m trying to simplify my life, not easy to do for a pack rat. (I bought my first file cabinet when I was 13 years old)

What to do, What to do?

  • I only comment because I’ve been there before…

As a die hard pack rat myself, I was shocked to find out how liberating it felt when I started chucking tons of crap I had piled up in my apartment. Years of stuff that I had no use for were brought out, bag by bag, to the dumpster. It was a hell of a good feeling.

I also point out that once you get rid of all that stuff, you have room for new stuff!

  • But it’s so hard to get rid of it!  I speak as, of course, a fellow pack rat.  I love all my stuff, and it seems like the more I throw out (I hate her now, why do I need that picture??) the more stuff that seems to fill up its’ place.  Well, as my best friend Katie says…”I’m not a pack rat, I’m a collector.”
