I can’t tell you how many times I’ve signed up for Amazon “subscribe and save” diapers and then unsubscribed.  I’ve been getting a case of 156 (size 5) diapers for $28.10 or less each time.  Lydia weighs 31 lbs!  I can’t believe it!  LOL

She will be 2 next Thursday, My friend Amanda is going to take portraits.  Then she has her 2 year check up on the 14th.  No big birthday plans.  Last year we went to my parents.  I realized today that it has been over 6 months since Lydia has seen them in person!  They’ve been in NJ since July except for a few days.

Potty training is not really going anywhere.  This afternoon I had her sit on the potty for 12 minutes then I put her diaper back on her and went to wash a pan.  I came back and she had peed in her diaper.  Then a few minutes later I had her sit again for 20 minutes.  No results, I went to use my nebulizer and she ran to her bedroom and pooped.  Sigh.

Got her a cute corduroy jumper at a thrift store this afternoon, I just need to wash it.  lol  I need to do a lot of laundry.

Tonight, I packed my hospital bag in the trunk before going to church.  I was SO SURE Lydia was going to be coming that night.  She was due on the 6th, but didn’t come until a week later than that!  Headed to church again tonight, no hospital bag.  lol

    Happy New Year Everyone!

  • I can not believe

That in 2 weeks and one day, I will have a 2 year old!  Where did the time go?  She is so adventurous.  No less than 5 times in the past 3 weeks did I anticipate having to take her to the ER for either running full speed off the bed, standing on a chair and falling over, hugging the TV (don’t ask).  She is such a spitfire!  I wish it were warmer today, and I felt better she needs to go run.  I wish I could take her to the park but not today.

She is so emotionally attached to 2 things right now.  My cell phone, and my laptop.  She will wail and throw her head back when I put the computer up in the morning after I use my nebulizer.  I guess it is normal, but it seems weird to me.  And my phone.  Sigh.  It is like the end of the world.  I think I am going to try not to use it so much.  Like tell people that I will not be checking my texts so much throughout the day, and if they need me to call me.  Maybe she *loves* it because she sees me use it so much.

She has finally been saying Mama on a more regular basis.  It used to be only when she wanted to get out of the crib.

Being a Mommy is Magical and exhausting.

  • my name is Stacey

I am 36 years old, and have never made a meatloaf.

I am allergic to onions and can not stand cooked green peppers.

I do NOT under any circumstances use Ketchup (gross) I know a lot of people use it as an “icing” for their meatloaf.

Is is possible to make a decent meatloaf using ground beef, Italian seasoned bread crumbs and an egg?

I actually bought a glass loaf pan with the thought of making banana bread, but I know I have ground beef in the freezer…. any pointers?

  • UGH

So, sure enough I got sick on Monday night. 101.5 Fever,  Vomiting and dry heaves for about 7 hours, couldn’t even keep down a sip of flat coke or ginger ale.  Dozed on and off all day Tuesday, Went to bed about 8 PM Tuesday night and slept until Lydia woke up.

Lydia woke up, drank her sippy cup and her Daddy took her to jump on the bed while I skyped with my parents.  Then I hear, “Honey, Honey!

I go running and get there in time to see her puke the contents of her sippy cup all over the hall carpet.  Yuck.

I change her diaper (still from overnight) clean her up and put on fresh clothes.  I give her 2 oz of the watered down powerade Fred had bought me yesterday.  (I had no pedialyte on hand – you do what you’ve gotta do) 10 minutes later that comes up.  Then I decide to give her a bath.  I wanted to give her one Monday, but we had no water, then I was down for the count Tuesday, so here we are.

Gave her a bath, she came out squeeky clean, dried and dressed her, told her NOT to touch the DVD’s and took a shower myself.  I come out and she is sitting on the floor next to the DVD’s, I said, “NO!  Lydia!  Mama said NO DVD’s!”  She starts crying then runs.  I see she had thrown up behind Fred’s desk chair and for some reason tried to run to the kitchen.  I clean it up and put back the DVD’s.

I know it will just run its course like it did with me, but I call the Pediatrician anyway.  Keep an eye on her, if she hasn’t wet a diaper in 8 hours take her to the ER.  At 3:30, after 9 pukes, and no wet diaper, I take her to the ER.  She throws up in the parking lot, and then once we get in the exam room.

They gave her IV fluids (after sticking her 3 times, the poor baby) and IV Zofran.  She fell asleep and woke up for a popsicle, kept that down, and had another.  Then we came home Thank GOD.  She’s crying now, going to check on her.

  • Oh please don’t let me be getting sick!

There is a stomach bug going around.  At least 4 families at church currently have it,  2 have already had it.  Lydia has been cranky all day, and I’ve been nauseated for the past 2 hours.  I can’t be sick!  I need to be able to take care of Lydia.  Fred just went to return his GPS and get me some Ginger Ale.  I couldn’t even enjoy my homemade turkey vegetable rice soup I made after Thanksgiving that I took out of the freezer and simmered on the stove all afternoon!

  • Freecycle

I have a problem with my Freecycle community.  EVERY item I have listed since we’ve lived here - Someone has requested, then I tell them they can have it, and I never hear from them again!  Does anyone else experience that?

I am making (haha – they really make themselves, and everyone but Kelly will like them – (Just teasing Kel!)) Pretzel Rolo Turtles.

    • Pre heat oven to 350
    • Take mini party pretzels, put them on a cookie sheet
    • top each one with a Rolo
    • Put in oven for 3-5 minutes candy should be soft, but not melted
    • take out and press a pecan half into it
    • let cool
    • People will go crazy for these (I did the first time I had them)

    yum (not my picture)

Lydia is getting a play Kitchen for her birthday (I’m excited about that too)  I can’t believe she’ll be 2 in 5 weeks!  I don’t know what we’re doing, I don’t know if my parents will still be with Jody, or what.

Fred started a new job on Wednesday.  So far, so good…

  • So, my sister Jody is finally scheduled for her sugery tomorrow.  She broke her femur on July 9th, and after 4 chemo treatments 4 weeks apart, the doctors are ready.

10 years ago, the only option would have been amputation.  It is the most complicated surgery that can be done on the leg, and is “scheduled” to be 10 hours long.

Please keep her in your prayers.

  • can’t sleep.

even though I am exhausted, I am so wide awake.

    it is an eerie feeling.

Revival at church starts in 8 hours.  even if I DO fall asleep, tomorrow is going to be a LOOOOONNNNG day.

  • I read a list a few months back about ridiculous “parenting” products

    included in the list were:

    • a teddy bear made out of your placenta
    • Graco NasalClear battery operated nasal aspirator
    • Leashes for your kids
    • disposable hand covers for holding onto the potty
    • The “daddle”  a saddle for playing horsey with dad

Haha.  I just went to search for the article (HERE IT IS) and it is ACTUALLY called Ridiculous Parenting Products!

    Anyway….

My friend Jennifer has 6 kids, 8 and under and her husband is in Korea for a year, so yes.  She uses leashes, and slings, and anything else she needs to to wrangle those kids together.  It is not impractical for her.

I use the Graco NasalClear for Lydia.  She has allergies and was getting chronic ear infections and it is faster and more hygenic than the typical bulb syringe.  She broke it this week week and I about died (as she has a cold right now too)  Thanks to Swagbucks I was able to order a replacement one on Wednesday using my FREE Amazon Cards.  It came via UPS today.  WHAT?  You don’t use Swag Bucks?  Sign up here !

Parents and Non-parents, do you use something that others might find ridiculous?  What is it?
