WHEW!
What a wonderfully exhausting time we've had over the past few days!
Preacher and Mrs O'Neal got into town Wednesday night from Albany, Georgia. Fred picked them up at their hotel and they met me at church.
After Services, we fellowshipped for a bit then went to Fuddrucker's for a bite to eat. I had always wondered what a 1 lb burger looked like, and how big the bun was. I was finally able to see one, becasue Pastor O'Neal ordered it. It was huge!
We dropped them back at the hotel and made our plans for Thursday (my birthday).
We went home and I went to bed. We picked the Preacher and his wife up at the hotel at 11:00 and drove back to Staten Island to catch the ferry. We stoppped so they could meet Fred's mother. She had spoken to them both several times, but had never met them. They said they know where Fred gets his wizecracking attitude from now. LOL
We took the Ferry ride over, (Gorgeous weather 68 degrees UNHEARD of for November). We walked through Battery park so they could get a good look at the Statue of Liberty. Took a few photos (especially of the foliage for Mommy who misses the change of season in Florida)
Fred standing by a statue
Mrs. O'Neal sitting in Battery Park (I told her if her camera died, she could buy batteries here... hee hee)
We left Battery park and walked over to ground zero so they could see the gaping hole. They really weren't ready for what they were going to see. Never having been to NYC it left them speechless.
Then we took the subway over to Penn Station, walked around came out so they could see the outside of Madison Square Garden and Macy's. Began our walk uptown toward Times Square.
The "usual" sights to be seen as well as a very well trained cat and dog begging for their owner...
We continued walking through Times Square where we made it to Sbarro's (I know it's a chain... but they were tired and wanted NY PIZZA) who knew there was a Ray's original only one block away?
We then caught a bus bringing us back to the Ferry. We got back to the Island and drove them back to their hotel Not before stopping at Walmart by the skin of our teeth. They closed at 11:00; we got there at 10:49. Then we stopped to get cheesecake for Fred and Mrs O'Neal. Mrs O'Neal said it was the best tasting thing she ever put in her mouth. LOL
We came home and went to bed as we had to pick them up at 9:00 Friday AM.
We got to the hotel and Fred was still tired
But not tired enough to pass up the free hotel breakfast
We got to Staten Island and again caught the ferry over. Fred, Preacher and Mrs O'Neal had NY Dirty Water Dogs (blech) I had a soft pretzel and a diet coke)
We got on the bus up toward Central Park; Beautiful Foliage and
Then We decided to get a shot of the two of us. Ugh... I can see the weight I've gained since the miscarriage in my face SO BAD. Ugh. Muct go back on WW.
Compare...
The Day of the miscarriage Versus November 10, 2006. Gaaa
We came out of Central Park and walked through Columbus Circle to go to Calvary Baptist Church on West 57th St. Pics from inside the Sanctuary.
We were able to go into the offices and they gave Fred and the Preacher a book about the church.
Then, on to food:
Needed to have a NY Bagel before they left!
you can't see it in the picture! But they got a bagel with cream cheese; Cheese Tortellini with spinach Broccoli; marinara and a diet sunkist (hard to come by apparently) lol
I had a DARK toasted garlic bagel and my trusty diet coke. (I had NO Protein that day.. lol)
Fred took my diet coke when his vanilla quik was gone
We got back on the train to go back to the Ferry. Preacher on the train.
He then decided he needed a cup of NY coffee. I guess I didn't have the heart to tell him Starbucks is Seattle... LOL
Preacher O'Neal with his first ever cup of Starbucks coffee..
We got back to the hotel; prayed and then they were off to PA to stay in a Prophet's chamber that a church had offered him. He was even invited to Preach out there Sunday Morning!
We raced home to get here by our 8:00 Bible study, nobody was here, but Fred the Lord and I.
Got to sleep in a bit on Saturday. Fred went to the Bank and the Post office (forgetting it was Veteran's day) Came back to get me and we went to the mall so he could return a shirt hje bought that didn't fit him. Grabbed a bite to eat and came back home.
Took a nap before we had to leave to go to Manhattan for Bible Study with Rafael. We saw him and told him we were just trying to find parking. But when we finally parked and got there he was gone. We hung around a bit and he came back about 9:20; we went upstairs and had a short bible study and prayer.
Came home to do it all over again. Fred decided to take the 2 hour drive to Stowe, PA to hear Preacher O'Neal (as I've never heard him preach) we were also invited to the Pastor's home for lunch. Pastor's wife Kathy made a wonderful smelling Post Roast, but It wasn't safe to eat because of onions. sigh... She made me a grilled chicken sandwich. (how nice of her to go out of her way)
When we finally left there we got caught in a torrential downpour, and instead of taking 2 hours to get to church it took close to 3. But we got there. Came home, made Fred sometihng quick to eat and I went to bed.
It was SO NICE and RELAXING to have two days off from work, but man.... the MESS on my desk when I came in this AM. Puh. I'm afraid I'll never recover.
Opened my new bank accounts on Wednesday afternoon with sovereign bank. Waiting for my check card in the mail. 2 checks still outstanding with commerce then sayanora commerce!
Have to go to a viewing tomorrow evening. really need to mop the floor as prayer is HERE on Saturday morning... LORD give me strength.
