  • So afraid I missed the window of opportunity.  Lydia will be 3 in 3 days.

I planned to begin potty training around 18 months, but then Fred got very sick and I had to wait on him for many weeks.  It got put on the back burner.

I planned to work on it – was even scheduled to go to a “potty training workshop” in April 2011 when we got the call that Fred’s mom was in a coma in NYC.  We rushed up there and were there for 3 weeks.

We had some problems and for unforeseen circumstances Lydia and I were not home for a portion of the summer.

Then the move came.  Got here, was barely settled in – 2 weeks and Fred breaks his arm, and subsequent surgery.  Here we are almost 3 years old and not nearly potty trained.

For a BM she will come running to me and tell me she has to go, we will run to the potty and sit there for 20 minutes with no outcome.  Diaper goes back on and we go back to whatever we were doing.  A little while later we repeat.  After another 20 minutes or so of nothing, diaper goes back on.  Then she runs into her bedroom and goes in her diaper!

This is an almost DAILY occurrence.  Last week we had a successful BM on the potty, but she drank a lot of juice that day, so it was a fluke.

    Is there any hope?

I can’t just “camp out at home” right now because Fred has PT weekly and Drs appointments regularly.  He can’t drive so I have to do all the errands, and he can’t get her on and off the potty and stuff with only one good arm.  Any suggestions?

  • I used the “3 day method” and it worked. It basically means you can’t leave your house or have her leave your sight for 3 straight days. It was SO hard, but so worth it because she got it after those 3 days. Run all your errands, stock up on groceries and stick around for 3 days. I have the document on Facebook if you’re interested. I can send it to you if you want…just reply on here or send me a message on FB if you want it.

  • there’s always hope!
